Wise and Unbiased:
Royal Philosophy in Paintings and Calligraphy of the Joseon Dynasty
The special exhibition "Wise and Impartial: Royal Philosophy in Paintings and Calligraphy of the Joseon Dynasty" focuses on the utilization of the power of text and images by King Yeongjo and King Jeongjo as they worked to forge an impartial and harmonious society.
Throughout the exhibition, we worked to ensure that the material and design worked together and that visitors could properly understand the contents in a new format.
〈탕탕평평蕩蕩平平-글과 그림의 힘〉은 영조와 정조가 나라의 중심에 서서 ‘탕평한 세상’을 만들기 위해 ‘글과 그림의 힘’을 어떻게 활용했는지를 주목하는 전시입니다.
이번 전시를 통해 전시 전반을 아울러 콘텐츠와 디자인이 어우러지도록 기획하고, 새로운 형식 속에서 명료하게 내용을 전달하기 위해 고민했습니다.

Making My Own Pictorial Record on a Visit to a Royal Tomb
If I were a leader in charge of a country, what kind of country would I want to create?
Illustrations from the uigwe (Royal Protocol) of Events from King Jeongjo's Visit to Hwaseong showcase different aspects of the country that Jeongjo wanted to realize.
After viewing the exhibition, you can answer a series of questions to find out what your dream country would look like, and then create your own drawing(uigwe) using various court characters and props to share with each other.

내가 만약 나라를 다스리는 지도자라면 어떤 나라를 만들고 싶을까요? 원행정리의궤도에는 정조가 실현하고자 한 나라의 여러 모습이 담겨 있습니다. 전시를 감상한 후 일련의 질문에 답을 하면서 내가 꿈꾸는 나라의 모습을 찾고, 다양한 궁중의 캐릭터와 소품을 활용해 나만의 의궤도를 만들고 서로에게 공유할 수 있습니다.
Exploring King Jeongjo's Secret Correspondence through Keywords
In the middle of the night, King Jeongjo secretly exchanged letters with his subjects, addressing political matters. By dragging a virtual light over the screen, you may explore the secret letters by topic. 정조는 한밤중에 은밀히 신하들과 편지를 주고 받으며 정치적인 이슈들에 대해 의논하였습니다. 화면 위에서 가상의 촛불을 옮겨가면서 비밀 편지들을 주제별로 둘러 보고, 일련의 편지를 펼쳐 그림과 함께 자세히 감상할 수 있습니다 .

How do the subjects of portraits and their styles change over time?
Visitors can watch two videos about portrait styles and courtiers during King Yeongjo's reign, as well as pan and zoom the UI screen to get a closer look at the paintings.
